AWE Frequently Asked Questions
Who studies at Acting With Emily?
We cater to all ages and abilities, beginner through professional, preschool through adult.
Who are your teachers?
Our teaching artists are all working professionals who teach what they do for a living. For example, our Acting for Commercials instructors have hundreds of commercials under their belt, our Musical Theatre teachers are current and recent broadway performers, and our Scene Study teaching artists have abundant film, television, and stage credits. Taking a film class? You’ll be working with producers and directors who are current, up to date, and in the know!
Are you agents?
No. We are a performing arts school. We do bring in agents, managers, casting directors, and other industry professionals to teach, however, this is in no way a guarantee of representation or work of any kind.
What is your credit/refund policy?
No refunds or exchanges within 30 days of beginning of semester. If cancelled 30 days or more before start of class: refund in the full amount, minus a $25 administrative fee, will be credited for future class only if your vacated spot an be filled by another student. If spot can not be filled by the first day of class, there are no refunds, no exchanges and no credits. Once a seat is purchased, it belongs to you! IF A CLASS DOES NOT RUN, YOU WILL RECEIVE A FULL REFUND OR HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO APPLY TUITION TO ANOTHER CLASS OF YOUR CHOICE.
Do you offer private coaching?
We sure do! Whether you are in a broadway show and don’t have time for a regularly scheduled class, have an audition that needs extra attention, or want to hone your skills one-on-one, we can accommodate you.
Please email us or call for availability.
What are your office hours?
We are typically open 3-7 p.m. Monday-Friday. Walk ins are not permitted. If you would like to schedule a consult, class, or have questions about our classes, please call Jeremy in registration at 973-866-8787 or email us
My child is brand new to acting. Is your studio right for her?
Well, that depends. Does your child want to have fun, learn new skills, and make new friends? If so, then yes! We tailor our curriculum to fit the needs of all students, regardless of experience.
I am not interested in my son becoming an actor. I just want him to have fun and develop self confidence.
There are plenty of other reasons to pursue a Performing Arts Education for your child. We have classes for all types of kids, families, and situations. While some of our students are working or want to be professional performers, we have plenty of students who want to learn skills and have fun without the professional commitment! Your child will gain the same professional skills in a fun, creative environment while developing self confidence and feeling good about themselves .
My daughter already has professional credits. What can you teach her?
Hey, Even Derek Jeter works with a hitting coach. President Obama still works with a public speaking coach!
Plenty of our students have substantial professional credits, and continue to study, work, and train with us here at AWE. Why? We believe that in this industry, every advantage is a good one, and preparation is key. Our smart, compassionate, and connected teachers develop long term working relationships with our students and their families, and our success formula is one that works! We can help you break through to the next level in your career, and help keep you focused and motivated, while making sure that you are taking advantage of every opportunity that comes your way!
Can you get me auditions?
Because of our heavy industry connections, we do have access to auditions for film, tv, commercials, theatre, etc, and will always inform our students of an opportunity or project that is right for them!
